Telecom Services Worsening In Borno, Yobe states
Phone subscribers of all the service providers are experiencing difficulty making and receiving calls, but there is no official explanation from the service providers or the National Communication Commission (NCC), the regulatory agency for mobile telephony in Nigeria.
A source attributed the development to increased destruction of telecommunication masts by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, while another said it is on account of a security overhaul in the two states concerning official interception of the Boko Haram sect by the State of Emergency authorities.
A military source told SaharaReporters that troops have commenced a serious search in areas considered to be the sect's strong bases, camps and recruitment sites.
A citizen reporter who is outside Maiduguri town was told to delay entry into the town as there is anxiety due to serious checks, particularly for inbound travelers.
