Does David Moyes really have the toughest job in the Premier League?

Are the jobs at Chelsea and Manchester City actually tougher asks than what David Moyes faces at Manchester United? It depends on a long-term or short-term view, writes Iain Anderson.

Fast forward two years from now. In my hypothetical situation none of the top three teams in the Premier league has won either the title, or the Champions League.

Which of the three managers, of Jose Mourinho, Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes could expect to continue for a third season?

Unsurprisingly, I think we could expect the departures of Mourinho and Pellegrini in this scenario, if they survive the first season. Moyes is in a different position.

When appointed by Manchester United, unlike Ferguson, he took over the champions. He still has Ferguson in the shadows which may be a good thing, after all Ferguson still had Sir Matt Busby in the background too.

Ferguson did not replace Busby, he replaced Ron Atkinson who had tasted success in the FA Cup but not in the league. Ferguson was not expected to bring immediate success in the league, which is just as well, because he didn't.

In fact it took Ferguson four years to win a trophy, that being the 1990 FA Cup. Will Moyes get that long? I doubt it.

His situation is only similar to Ferguson's, it is not the same. Nowadays investment demands success very quickly.

At United, however, he can expect to be given slightly longer than at either of the other two clubs. I don't think he can go four years without winning anything and then expect the club and fans to be happy with the FA Cup but I do think he would probably get three years to make his mark.

In reality and I really don't expect this eventuality to arise because in my opinion Moyes will win trophies at United.

Do you agree? Will Moyes get the time? Will he have the success?
