Double D Makes it 15 goals in 15 games; old nemesis comes back to haunt Wenger

Didier Drogba continued his excellent record against Arsenal today with a brace in the Emirates Cup for Galatasaray.

After their draw with Napoli in the opening fixture the game against their Turkish rivals was always going to be treated with importance - and Arsene Wenger used the opportunity to get his only summer signing, Yaya Sanogo, out on the pitch for some match experience.

While many will quickly state - ‘it is only a friendly’ - these are two Champions League teams going toe-to-toe so they will be always want to get one over on the other.

And with fifteen minutes left it looked like Arsenal were going to claim a victory - until a player the club know all too well popped up and left Arsenal fans forlorn at watching their team throw away a win.

Didier Drogba scored 13 times in 14 appearances for Chelsea against Arsenal during his time in South West London.

It was a record that caused Wenger to say this about the Ivorian when he moved to Shanghai Shenhua in 2012:

‘’I don't know if Chelsea miss him, but we don't miss him. He did a lot of damage against us.’’

And we bet Wenger wishes the veteran striker was still playing his football in China - as he bagged a brace to win the match, and trophy, for the Istanbul outfit.

He won the penalty for the first goal, which he duly slotted home, and then scored the winning goal in the 86th minute to continue his quite incredible record against The Gunners - which now stands at 15 goals in 15 appearances.

Wenger will be hoping Gala are not a team his side have to face in this seasons Champions League - because Drogba would love to extend that already impressive record.
