Report: Manchester United want £40 million Ozil, and he wants to go...
First Thiago, then Cesc Fabregas, now... Mesut Ozil?
Manchester United fans may wish to remain sceptical on this one... but here we go...
Spanish radio station Punto Pelota - who forecast Jose Mourinho's return to Chelsea well in advance - claim that United want to sign the German playmaker.
A report on their website states:
"The team that wants to sign is Manchester United and the player who wants to strengthen it is Mesut Özil".
"The offer could be 40 million pounds (46.5 million euros) and the player is aware that with the arrival of Bale will be more overbooking and is clearly going to ask the Real Madrid to accept the offer of the United.
"The economic benefit is impressive given what it cost at the time and in that space is spare. player may consider the option and the agent is moving as it is World Cup year. The team is Manchester United and the new coach wants or yes."
Ozil was strongly linked with Manchester United in the summer of 2010 after a starring role at the World Cup with Germany, only for United to spend money on Bebe instead with Sir Alex ferguson claiming there was 'no value in the market.'
However where Ozil would fit in at United is a question. The playmaker's arrival would push Shinji Kagawa further down the pecking order and ask further questions of Wayne Rooney.
Ozil's current contract expires in 2016, and he has recently been linked with extending that deal.
