Sleepy Bear breaks into family home for a nap

He can bear-ly keep his eyes open - tired beast breaks into family's home for a quick nap by their pool - while they record the amazing scene on their cell-phones.

One brazen bear fed up with all the rain outside scared the living daylights out of a seven-year-old boy and his babysitter when it decided to take a nap inside a families Naples Beach lanai.

The eight-foot bear apparently broke in through a screen door of the home, strolled past the pool and simply plonked itself down on the floor for a rest.

Texting his mom Alice MacDonough in panic, the little boy did what most people would do in the same circumstances - whipped out his cell phone and took a picture and some video.


After an hour the bear simply decided it was well rested, got up and left leaving the relieved residents to patch up the battered screen door and count their blessings it was a benign visit.

Indeed, the babysitter had been in the swimming pool with MacDonough's baby just 15 minutes before the bear arrived.

We've had so much rain this season. I think they are running out of places to chill out,' said Alice MacDonough.

'They're innocent animals and they are running out of room and I just think they should really relocate them. But putting them down just seems so unfair and so inhumane,' said Alice MacDonough of the creature they have named 'Sleep Bear'.
