He mentioned this in Ejigbo in the course of his courtesy call on the Elejigbo of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin.
Salaam urged the people of the state to support the government in efforts to actualize the goals of the policy.
He also asked religious leaders in the state not to convert the schools' merger issue into a political one.
"There is nothing wrong with merging Christian and Muslim schools together," he said
In his remarks, Oba Oyesosin pointed out the importance of people cooperation with the government for implementing the new policy.
According to NAN, Osun Government introduced the schools' merger and reclassification program, which grouped the public schools into three categories: elementary school for pupils with ages between 6 and 9, medium school for students with ages between 10 and 14, high schools with ages between 15 and17.
