Reina set for cut-price move to Barcelona

Barcelona will have to shell out just £4.2m to land Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina next summer, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

The La Liga champions will need a new goalkeeper at the end of this campaign as current No.1 Victor Valdes is poised to leave the club - and Reina is on their wishlist.

El Mundo Deportivo claim the 31-year-old, who is currently on loan at Napoli, reached an agreement with Liverpool to leave Anfield for good next summer after Simon Mignolet joined from Sunderland in June.

It is believed senior officials at Liverpool will pave the way for the Spaniard to return to his former club for a cut-price fee, with half payable next summer and the remainder to be paid in the summer of 2015.

Barcelona are also tracking Borussia Monchengladbach youngster Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, but Nou Camp director of football Andoni Zubizarreta feels Reina is the preferred option due to his experience and familiarity with the club's style of play.

Spain international Reina has made 285 Premier League appearances for Liverpool since signing from Villarreal in the summer of 2005.
