Vigeo Power Limited Takes Over Benin Distribution Company
This is coming after 14 years of efforts by the National council on privatisation (NCP), the Bureau of Public Enterprises and the Federal Ministry of Power to reform Nigeria's electricity industry.
Speaking at the Distribution Headquarters in Benin City, Nigerian Vice President, Namadi Sambo, in his address stated that it was the realisation that Nigeria will not attain the desired economic growth without adequate power that informed the power sector reform.
The Vice President, represented by Chairman, Presidential Task force on Power, Beks Dagogo Jack, also said the Federal Government is committed to creating an enabling environment that would foster economic growth.
Managing Director of the Benin Distribution Company, while commending the President for the reform said it was time for the sector to move forward and that they are ready for the change.
The Benin Electricity Distribution serves Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti states with over 700,000 customers and staff strength of over 4,000 workers.
The core Investor, Vigeo Power Limited through its Chairman, Bolade Oshibodu, assured customers of professionalism and good service.
