Leadership tussle tears Nasarawa APC apart

The defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Nasarawa State have faulted the alleged non-compliance to the All Progressive Congress constitution by the state interim executive.

Nurudeen Omar of the defunct ACN alleged lopsidedness in the composition of the state party interim executive.

While, John Mathew, the former ANPP chairman alleged being sidelined in the affairs of the party.

A petition addressed to the national chairman of the party, signed by Mr. Omar, alleged that the composition of the interim committee ran contrary to the party constitution.

He alleged that the composition of the interim committee was single handedly carried out by the state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, without the consultation of the stakeholders.

"I write to complain to your office and to our party the APC about the lopsided composition of the state interim harmonisation committee for Nasarawa State which was constituted single handedly by the governor," he said.

He said that other parties involved in the merger namely ACN and ANPP were not fairly treated.

Mr. Omar said that out of the 37 positions in the interim exco, ANPP and ACN were given three each while the rest was given to CPC.

He added that membership of the interim committee was a complete distortion of the party's constitution.

"The act of the governor is a threat to the peaceful coexistence of the APC in Nasarawa State," he said.

Mr. Mathew said that the party shut him out of its activities as he was not invited to the last two meetings held in Lafia.

Efforts to reach the state chairman of the interim committee, Stanley Buba, for comments were not successful.
