Despite the likes of Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Yaya Toure taking centre stage in Manchester City's strong form of late, the influence of Samir Nasri should not be understated or diminished.
The France international has been in and out of the Etihad Stadium starting XI over his time at the club, but this season is seemingly finding his best form. As such, he has started more games than he has missed, and of late has been one of City's top performers.
A significant role in City's 6-0 humbling of Tottenham was followed by two goals against Swansea on Sunday, with the former Arsenal man enjoying a good week.
Starting on the left flank, Nasri has been willing and successful in taking on opposition full-backs, and more often than not has created space and opportunities as a result.
He has been allowed something of a roaming role by Pellegrini, and as such has taken up some very dangerous positions off the ball, giving City plenty of attacking options.
With his neat inter-play and deft touches, Nasri looks like the player that burst onto the scene at Arsenal, and not the inconsistent player that struggled slightly following a move to Manchester.
During his final season with the Gunners, the talented playmaker was instrumental in either creating or scoring the bulk of the north London side's goals, and was adjudged as one of the most talented attacking midfielders in England.
With the rise of David Silva at City and other renowned playmakers throughout the Premier League, Nasri's name has not been mentioned as frequently when analysing the most effective schemers.
However, should he continue in his recent rich vein of form, Nasri could well be a key man in City's push for the Premier League title and again be recognised as one of the best in his position in England.
