Scientist Advocates Space Research Initiative Between Nigeria And Europe

An expert on space technology, Professor Christine Amory-Mazaudier, has advocated for a stronger collaboration between Nigeria and Europe to enlarge the scope of research and survey towards developing the space weather and space based technology in the country.

Professor Mazaudier stated this while addressing participants at a 3-day capacity building workshop on space weather research organized for young Nigerian scientists in Ota, Ogun State.

The workshop was meant to boost human capital development in the analysis of space data and review of the scientific awareness on space weather and scope of research, especially in Global Positioning System (GPS).

The Director, Centre for Atmospheric Research of the National Space Research and Development Agency, Prof Rabiu Babatunde, was of the view that if adequately explored, the global positioning system will give impetus to the nation's financial system.
Experts believe that the advent of the GPS has drastically improved the economies of developing countries, especially in land management, geographic information and agriculture.
