ELDERLY ADVISE: Obasanjo Urges Nigerians To Do THESE To Keep Fit...

In a bid to teach Nigerians on how to grow as old as he is, former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday urged Nigerians to exercise themselves regularly in order to stay physically and mentally fit.

Obasanjo said this at a squash competition organised in Abeokuta, Ogun State to mark his 77th birthday.

"In fact, the older you are getting the better you exercise yourself so that both in mind and body you will be agile, active, sound and sober.

"What we always pray for is that our offspring will perform better than we do; that is normally the prayer of good parents.

"I have seen squash played particularly like those in Asia; Pakistanis and Indians, you see them sliding; you won't even think that they are on their feet.

"I saw something similar to that yesterday (Tuesday); we are making progress.

"Of course, in any game of sports the earlier you start the better; catch them young.''

Meanwhile, in an exhibition match played to mark the occasion, the former president defeated retired Justice Oladehinde Soremi 1-0, to affirm his dexterity in the sport.
