Girls, no one can condemn or stigmatise you if God hasn’t (II)
Temilolu Okeowo
Dear Temilolu,
I read your column on Saturdays. I am a mother with all boys and l want you to extend your counselling to the teenage boys too. It’s very important. Thanks.
Concerned mother
Dear Aunty Temilolu,
I am excited to read about this club for the first time. I am a 15-year-old motherless virgin. I stay in Lagos with my dad and my only 12-year-old brother. I am not allowed to own a phone yet both at school and at home. I’d like to become a member of Girls Club. This is my dad’s phone. Please respond through same. God bless you ma.
Temidayo Adekunle
My darling, precious, glorious, dignified, world-famous and heavenly celebrated Nigerian sisters,
I must not fail to appreciate the wonderful father of Temidayo on his efforts to raise a mentally and emotionally stable and godly daughter. I thought I was the only one who thinks a teenager doesn’t need a phone till he/she is 16 and out of secondary school. It surprises me how 8-13, 14, 15-year-olds are allowed to have personal phones even when they live with their parents and can share their parents’ phones. Too many parents would never forgive themselves if they found out the havoc they’ve wreaked in the lives of their children by exposing them to societal ills via the social media, stripping them of their innocence through the interactions and unwholesome misinformation passed to them on the phone. May God help this generation in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
I published a letter last week where a 19-year-old lady who has a child out of wedlock feels bad all the time and doesn’t think she would find a man who would cherish her and requested some counselling. You’d recall I mentioned that many people may not be responsible for unfortunate or disgraceful circumstances they may find themselves in life. Some situations are fated to happen, some are family patterns and some are as a result of destinies under manipulation/attack. However, your attitude towards any horrible circumstance even if you brought it upon yourself is what matters. Unfortunately, a lot of youth never ever discover themselves least of all pursue their divine destiny and this brings about a lot of further confusion which the enemy uses to suppress glorious destinies. Too many have been swallowed by so-called stigmatisation and condemnation caused by the vicissitudes of life such that their egos no longer exist and this shouldn’t be so because Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) says we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Before you were born, God gave you a unique mixture of spiritual gifts, passions, abilities, personality, and experiences. There’s no one like you in the entire universe because, in part, there’s no one with your unique mix of talents. Sadly, a lot of you don’t realise who you are and what you are destined to be. Your parents don’t even help matters because a lot of them are also lost. You are so taken in by the dangerous rave of the world such that you find it so difficult to set yourself apart and pursue God’s plans for your life. And so when the devil/enemy or even life itself throws a punch at you, you find it very difficult to recover and pursue the life of your dreams. To further worsen matters, when all the self-confidence is gone because of what has befallen a number of ladies, they pursue love in the wrong places and go to the extent of begging for acceptance when they are meant to be a man’s trophy/dreams. This I tell you is one of the reasons we have very bad marriages in the world today. You find married women who have never been happy because the man who God designed to love them as Christ loved the church turns against them and hunts them with their past, calling them all sorts of names and further crushing their spirits. I tell you this is all a scheme of the devil/enemy to frustrate God’s wonderful plans for so many lives. There’s so much to discuss but my point here today is that the earlier you discover your identity in Christ and God’s plans for your life the better. The earlier you acquaint yourself with God and start living your life as though He’s the only reason why you exist, the better. The earlier you run away from that boyfriend that’s derailing you the better! You never can tell the type of star you carry and you never can tell what the devil has planned to throw your way to ensure you don’t live out your star. You never know the blinding pain coming your way to destabilise your entire existence and make life unbearable for you to live or even think of pursuing your dreams. The earlier you equip yourself the better. Let’s find out how next week. May God bless you all and make you VERY GREAT! Amen.
To be continued.
