Sam Ocheho handball hots up

Imo Grasshoppers on Monday continued their winning streak in the women’s category of the third Sam Ocheho/Injoo Invitational Handball Championship at  Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.

Lagos Seasiders also had a draw in their match on Monday. Grasshoppers beat Civil Defenders Babes 33-18 while Seasiders played 23-23 with Edo Dynamos, who have yet to secure a win in the tournament.

The competition, which began on Friday, will end on June 19 with teams battling for the N10m at stake.

Grasshoppers got their first win over Delta Force on Saturday while Seasiders lost their first match to ASPAC of Benin Republic.

Also, Flowers of Benin inflicted the first loss on ASPAC on Monday as both Beninoise female teams squared up. The game ended 27-21.

Dynamos coach, Aaron Okogie, told our correspondent that the team would work hard to secure a win in their next match.

“It is not easy getting back from an opening day loss but this draw is also something we can work on. The ladies will bounce back and get a win in our next game,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the men’s category, Civil Defenders beat Delta Force 38-12 to brighten their chances of winning the title. It is the second consecutive loss for the Delta team. They had lost their first match on Saturday 29-27 to Idah Lions while Defenders drew their opening game against Idah Pillars.
