iZlatan Ibrahimovic bagged a hat-trick as United ran out 3-0 winners at Old Trafford.
But despite the result, Mourinho was less than happy with his side’s start to the last-32 tie.
And, speaking to MUTV after the match, he revealed how he whipped his players into shape at the break.
“My first message was that it is impossible to play football at a high level without concentration, without intensity,” said Mourinho. “That was the first message.
“After that I went through a couple of tactical details.
“I changed the team a little bit, but the most important thing was really the attitude.
“Because we started the game with an immediate back-pass to a striker to face Romero in a one-against-one, so we started pretty badly.”
United go to France for the second leg next Wednesday.
But before that Mourinho’s men face a trip to Blackburn in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
