Siasia: Eagles Deserved Their W/Cup Ticket

Former Super Eagles handler, Samson Siasia believes that the African champions have worked really hard to be part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup holding in Brazil, Complete Sports can report.

Speaking to Complete Sports in Calabar shortly after the Super Eagles defeated the Walya Ibex of Ethiopia 2-0 to qualify for the biggest global football showpiece, the former national U-23 Ealges coach said he was impressed with the performances of the team in the qualifying series while advising the players and the coaches to prepare well for the tournament proper in Brazil.

"As a Nigerian, I feel great and happy that we qualified for the World Cup, this is what everybody has been expecting and it has finally come, we all have to be happy.

"It was not an easy ride for the team because if they have not worked hard, they would not have gotten the ticket, so it was a nice ne for the country", says the dark complexioned coach.

"They deserved it, if they could beat the Ethiopians right in their country and came back here to win 2-0, I think we should commend them.

"The Ethiopians have also proved that hey are not push overs with the way they handled the two matches", the former U-20 Flying Eagles coach said.

Siasia however advised the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to make sure that the team commenced preparation early enough for the World Cup billed to hold next summer in Brazil.

"Well, the only thing I can say is that the FA should know that preparation is key to whatever the team will ahieve at the World Cup and they should be seriuos about it.

"We have had several experiences in the past but this World Cup should be different".

While congratulating Coach Stephen Keshi on the World Cup ticket, he said he believe the former Togo national team manager knows what he would do to excel in the tournament.

"I can not teach Keshi what to do, he is a coach and he knows what to do, i can only congratulate him on what he has achieved.
