Danjuma urges support for anti-corruption war

Lt. Gen. T.Y. Danjuma (retd.) has called on Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war.
Danjuma said corruption was the root of the underdevelopment in most African states and needed to be curbed if the continent wanted to move forward.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the retired soldier said this while delivering a lecture at the third annual memorial lecture of Chief Ogiri Okoh in Otukpo, Benue State.
Danjuma, in his lecture titled, “Good governance for sustainable development in Nigeria,” said security and socio-political crises created by previous governments called for urgent responses.
He said, “We cannot allow our common national heritage to be criminally confiscated by a few. It destroys our commonwealth and common future and violates all principles of sustainable development. And that is why we must not only support the national anti-corruption efforts, but also collectively and individually commit to work responsibly in the common interest. We must stop deceiving ourselves by behaving as if we can live above or outside the condition of the larger society.”
