The Olubadan of Ibadan- land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Friday elevated 14 senior chiefs of Ibadan at his Popoyemoja palace.
Among the elevated chiefs was the owner of Splash FM and Lagelu FM, Senior Chief Adebayo Akande, who was accompanied by his wife, Onikepo.
Also elevated was a journalist, author and public relations consultant, Lekan Alabi. While Akande was elevated to the position of Maye Olubadan from Ekefa Olubadan, Alabi moved from Aare Alasa to Agbaakin Olubadan.
Among the other elevated chiefs were Emiola Adesina, who moved from Maye Olubadan to Abese Olubadan; Kolawole Adegbola, who moved from Ekefa Balogun to Abese Balogun; and John Dada, who was elevated from Agbaakin Balogun to Maye Balogun.
The Olubadan also elevated Yekini Ayoade-Adeojo from Asaju to Ikolaba Olubadan while Akinade Fijabi was elevated from Ayingun to Asaju Olubadan.
While thanking the people of Ibadan and the Olubadan for the elevation, Senior Chief Akande called on the youths to reposition themselves in the society and help the future of the nation by abstaining from corrupt practices. He added that already, the youths were assuming the position of leadership in the Nigerian society, saying that their character and quality of their decisions would shape the future of the nation.
In his reaction, Alabi said the position of Agbaakin Olubadan was at par with the position held by his great grandfather, Sanni Ajemgbe, in 1914.
