‘Religious education‘ll curb vices in Nigeria’

Religious education will curb anti-social behaviours and vices, especially among youths in Nigeria at large and tertiary institutions in particular, the Founder of Al- Hikmah University, Alhaji Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji; the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammed Ibrahim; and the Olojoku of Ojokuland in Oyun Local Government, Kwara State, Oba AbdulRasaq Afolabi, have said.
They lamented incidences of corruption, armed robbery, drug addiction, admission racketeering, examination malpractices, indecent dressing, cultism, rape, restiveness, immorality, terrorism and other atrocities allegedly perpetuated by some youths, even educated ones.
They spoke on Sunday on the sidelines of the presentation of prizes to winners of the inter-university Quranic recitation and memorisation completion at the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
No fewer than 13 universities participated in the competition. A prize was presented to Abdulfatai Sadiq from University of Ilorin, who won the first prize reserved for Group A.
Prizes were given to Abdulrahman Abdulrazak and Rahmatullahi Abdulwahab, also from Unilorin, who won the first prize in groups B and C respectively.
