Properties worth millions of naira were late on Thursday night destroyed by a raging thunderstorm in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Our correspondent gathered on Friday, that the destroyed properties included buildings, electric poles, shopping complexes, kiosks, cars and economic trees.

Residents of Abayawo, Isale Baani, Government Technical College Road, Shao and Adangba areas of Ilorin West Local Government lamented the loss while speaking with Saturday PUNCH.

Our correspondent who went round the scenes of the disaster discovered that lots of economic trees were uprooted at Oke Lele, Ogidi, Adangba, Shao and Alore areas as a result of the heavy storm.

A victim, Alhaji Kunle Olesin, pleaded with the National Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergence Management Agency to come to their rescue.

Another victim, Alhaja Bola Muhammed, said the destructions were devastating, adding that they needed assistance from government, corporate organisations, groups and individuals.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ali Ahmad, donated 100 bags of rice to teachers and local government workers in the state.
