Late veteran Actor Justus Esiri to be buried April 12th in Delta State

Veteran Nollywood actor and broadcaster, Justus Esiri, who passed away on February 19, will be buried in the third week of April in his home town, Abraka, Delta State.

Geoge Esiri, a photo journalist, and spokesperson to the Deceased made this piece of information known.

In his words, "As soon as that is done, the family will release details of the programme for everyone to see..."

Commenting on his father's death, Marvin Records star artiste, Dr. Sid, said there was nothing to be sad about his dad's death, because he lived a fulfilled life.

The National Chairman of the Progressive People's Alliance, PPA, Sam Nkire, has described the death of veteran actor, Justus Esiri, as a great loss to the entertainment world.

In a statement signed on Thursday in Abuja, Mr. Nkire described Mr. Esiri as his personal friend of many decades.
He described the actor's death as a great loss to the industry and Nigeria in particular saying "we have lost one of the finest entertainers in Africa."
Mr. Nkire said that Mr. Esiri's fans, friends, and family should take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and touched many lives through his chosen profession.
The PPA Chairman said, "even though, Esiri and I do not have much in common in terms of professional calling, but we lately found common ground in many areas such as religion."
He said that Mr. Esiri would be missed for his jokes, humility and goodness.
Mr. Esiri died on February 20, at the age of 71; he attended Urohobo College, Effurun in Delta and later went to Germany to study engineering where he developed an interest for theatre.
He began his acting career on stage in Germany. He was the only Nigerian male performing on stage in Germany between 1968 and 1969.
He also worked for Voice of Nigeria, VON, German Service, as a translator.
He was performing on stage in Germany when a delegation from Nigeria invited him to perform in Nigeria in a government sponsored programme.
When he came back to Nigeria, he never went back to Europe.
His fame was launched widely for his role in the ever popular African TV series, the Village Headmaster, where he played the "Headmaster".
Declared one of the strong men of the African film industry, Justus Esiri has indeed earned his fame.
Mr. Esiri holds the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger, MON.
